Base Acess

Information for civilian runners who have not yet registered!!!! Access to the base for civilian runners who HAVE NOT YET REGISTERED will be at the discretion of base security. All runners will be subject to random searches and everyone entering the base must show a photo ID.

Kids 1 mile run

The Kids 1 mile run will kick off at 8:15 just minutes after the start of the half marathon. Registration for the kids run will be available at packet pick-up October 11th and again race morning. Cost is $10 per child.

Race Day Registration

Pre-registration is now closed. Registration will be available at packet pick-up and on race morning. Cost is $55 for active duty and $65 for non active duty. As a reminder all active duty runners must present a valid military ID.

Registration/Confirmation - Additional Information

All runners who registered online as of Tuesday, October 7th will receive a confirmation via email. This also applies to all mail-ins recieved after this point. The email may be used as your entry to the base for Saturday's packet pick-up.

Race Day Directions

Take I-64 East or West to I-564. Follow I-564 to Naval Station Norfolk and then exit at Gate 3A. After entering the gate, continue straight until the road ends. Parking will be straight ahead. Signage will direct runners on race morning and volunteers will also be on hand directing runners to race parking.\

Please plan to arrive early the morning of the race to allow ample time to enter the gate, park, pick up your timing chip and prepare for an 8:05 a.m. start. Please note that all vehicles entering Naval Station Norfolk are subject to random searches.

Confirmation Letters

Participants who do not possess valid base decals and ID must present the confirmation letter, along with picture ID, to gain access to Naval Station Norfolk for packet pick-up on Saturday or race morning. Participants without proper base ID may also present their race bib, with picture ID, to access the base race morning.

Active Duty Runners

All Active Duty runners will be required to show a valid military ID at packet pick-up. If you are not active duty, however inadvertently signed up in that category, you will be able to pay the additional $10 fee either Saturday, October 11th or Sunday, October 12th during the scheduled packet pick-up hours.

Refunds and Transfers

Though we recognize circumstances may prevent a runner from being able to participate on race day, there are no refunds or transfer of race bibs. Runners unable to run on race day and who still wish to pick up their race packet, may do so at the scheduled packet pick-up times.

Packet Pick-up

Packet pick-up is scheduled for Saturday, 0900-1600 at the N-24 Gym at Naval Station Norfolk. Packets will also be available for pick-up Sunday morning prior to race start. All runners must pick up their packet in person and present a valid ID. Active Duty personnel must present a valid military ID.

Confirmation Cards

Confirmation cards will be mailed out beginning Wednesday, October 1st. All runners who do not have base decals and appropriate ID, must present the confirmation card at the gate to gain admittance on the base.

Less than a month to go!

The countdown is on. Less than a month to go before the start of the Fleet Week Half Marathon. The race committee is finalizing all the race details and is working hard to put on a great race. Slots are filling up so sign up now if you haven't already to secure your spot at the start line. More information on confirmation cards and base access will be posted shortly.

8 mile training run

The next training run is scheduled for this Saturday at Naval Station Norfolk. The run kicks off at 0805. The run is free to all active duty personnel and all runners registered for the half marathon. Call the Fitness and Sports Office at 444-2276 for more information.

We made Runner's World! If the "World's Leading Running Magazine" says you should run the race, then it's time to sign up if you haven't done so already! So as the magazine says, sign up to run the race "to peek inside the world's largest naval base" and "gawk up close at battleships and submarines"!

We are pleased to announce Lewis McGehee will perform for the post-race party. A Richmond, VA native and now a Chesapeake resident, Lewis McGehee has been voted as the top acoustic act for three consecutive years and was recently voted “Best Musician” by Portfolio Magazine’s Musician Poll. Registration Fees to increase soon!

Runners, sign up now to take advantage of low registration fees. Until May 31st active duty military pay $30 and all others pay $40. Fees will go up by $10 on June 1st.

Register online at www.lin-mark.com or join the Fitness and Sports Team at NAS Oceana, Friday March 7th, for the registration rally.
